Puppies By Dishongs is a family owned and operated business. Tom & Debbie Dishong are the owners, and are involved in every aspect of each puppy they have. We do have employees working with us, but Tom or Debbie are always available to you via phone. We are not online often as of the time we spend caring for our puppies, so if you need us, it is better to call then to email.
We have over 25 years of experience with dogs of many different breeds.
The way our puppies are breed, gives us a lot of control to ensure good genetics. We own almost all of the Moms and Dads. If they are not in our home, they are placed in private homes or kennels, under contract. ( There are many positive reasons for us doing this, which are explained below.) After the puppies are 8 weeks of age they come to us and we take care of them until they find a forever home. Some people who buy puppies from us, then breed them and sell those puppies back to us. Most of the parents have been on our farm before being placed in a private home. This way we get to know the parents' personality. We do not buy from any place nor any individual we can not vouch for. Dishongs pride themselves in knowing about their puppies. Tom can tell you most of the puppies grandparents backgrounds. A lot of our puppies are now 3rd & 4th generation puppies by Dishongs.
As I said our parents and new born puppies are under contract in private homes. Part of that contract is the care and feeding of them. All of our puppies have food and water available to them 24/7. We do this so we do not instill dog aggression behavior patterns into our puppies at an early age, They never associate food with love. The food was always there and the love was given. Our puppies are played with by children and adults in our private homes, which really helps the puppies learn to socialize.
Vaccinations are started at 4 - 5 weeks of age. ( worming is started earlier ) 4 - 5 weeks - KC3 ( for kennel cough ) 5 - 6 weeks - Neopar & 5 way ( neopar is for parvo and 5way is a conventional puppy booster ) 7 - 8 weeks neopar & 5way are given again this method of shot giving is the best way to build up titers in a puppy. Then a follow up booster is given at 14 - 16 weeks. The money value of the above listed shots are over $200.00, but the value it gives each puppy could be their life. *Neopar was invented by Dr.Page who is a renown dog veterinarian. Tom & Debbie try to attend every seminar given by Dr.Page
and last but not least -
Our puppies are sold when they reach the best age for their breed. Each individual puppy is different and date of purchase will be determined by Tom & Debbie Dishong. The average time frame is: Large breed dogs - 10 weeks old Small breed dogs - 12 weeks old Teacup dogs - 14 - 16 weeks old
